Google Translator Toolkit-The Basics

Google Translator Toolkit is another translation tool offered through Google Translate. It allows an individual a wider range of communication in a multi-lingual environment. Plus, it offers translators the opportunity to translate better and more quickly through one shared, innovative technology.

Here's what you can expect from the Google Translator Toolkit:

  • Upload Word documents, OpenOffice, RTF, HTML, text, Wikipedia articles and knols.
  • Use previous human translations and machine translations to "pretranslate" your uploaded documents.
  • Use Google's simple WYSIWYG editor to improve the pretranslation.
  • Invite others (by email) to edit or view your translations.
  • Edit documents online with whomever you choose.
  • Download documents to your desktop in their native formats---Word, OpenOffice, RTF, or HTML.
  • Publish your Wikipedia or knol translations back to Wikipedia and Knol.

How does this tool differ from Google Translate? Google Translate uses machine translation, without human translation interference. The Google Translator Toolkit allows human translators and gives them the opportunity to work faster and more accurately. Of course, just like Google Translate, the Google Translator Toolkit requires a google account be established before usage. FACEBOOK AND BLOGGER

Facebook is a social networking site that allows individuals or businesses to correspond with other Facebook"ers".

There are several sections to Facebook. You are able to post directly to others pages, through their wall or send a direct message. For businesses, it is a great way to promote and market. You could list daily specials/sales/services, create maps, show an entire menu/service list, post photo's and most importantly...communicate! Now, what would be even better than communicating through Facebook? How about if you also had a Blogger account that you could integrate with Facebook. This would enable you to write a full blog about what your company is, how it operates and how it could benefit an individual or another business. By integrating the two sites, you could post a link, snipet or full blog right to your Facebook page. This gives your Facebook pals the opportunity to follow your blog posts as well as communicate through Facebook.

One way to integrate Facebook with Blogger is to: write and post your blog, view blog and at the top of the Blogger page-click the Share button. A box will pop up for you to select which social network you want to share your blog with (in this case Facebook) and click Facebook. A snipet will appear on your Facebook page along with your blogs URL. This will direct viewers straight to your Blogger blog!

The Integration of Twitter and Blogger

Integrating your Twitter and Blogger account will allow more opportunities for an organization to advertise.

Twitter is a social networking web site that focuses on simplicity. It asks one question...What are you doing? and your answer is no more than 140 characters. The beauty of this? This gives a business the opportunity to make a statement without the intention of receiving an answer from its readers. Now, integrating Twitter with Blogger or vice versa gives a company a broader range of advertisement. How is this? Simple. Integration does not force a company to maintain each individual network. Instead, you are able to sign into ONE social network (i.e. Twitter or Blogger), post your announcement and it funnels straight to the other network(s) you are integrated with. This saves a large amount of time for the individual who maintains these sites. For example, if a company were to sign into their Blogger account and post a blog, because they are integrated with Twitter it will post a link to the new blog post on the company's Twitter page. Plus, the company did not have to sign on to Twitter for this integration to occur.

One way to set up integration between your two social networks, we'll use Twitter and Blogger, is to go to: your Blogger account, click on the layout tab, add a gadget, search for Feeds (and add), key in your Twitter URL, click Continue and save. There you have it, very simple to set up and now your are able to maintain your Twitter and Blogger account with only being signed into one network or the other.

Google Translate-Translated Search

Have the need for surfing the web but language barriers hold you back from completing your searches? Google offers a web search translation through Google Translate (Translated Search).

Translated Search allows a reader to surf the web in the 51 different languages available through Google. This tool permits a user to search for a particular subject, just as if you were browsing the web, and translate a web page. For instance, if you were searching for jobs in another country you could use Translated Search. Simply go to: Google Translate, Click on the Translated Search tab and input jobs in the "search for" box. Determine your current language and the language you are searching for. Click "Translate and Search" and different web pages related to your search instantly appear. These pages show in two different columns, the first-in your current language, the second-in the language you are searching for. Now, instead of searching the original page in the language you are unable to read, you would chose the same site in your current language. The web page looks identical but it is translated for better interpretation. This tool makes it available for an individual to research jobs on their own right off of another country's web page for FREE, instead of having to pay a company to do the research for you. Google's Web 2.0 Technology's offer several options for an individual, not to mention the use of these technology's (including Google Translate) are FREE!

Google Translate-Translate text, webpage URL or document

Google Translate has an easy to use text box that allows you to input text, a web page URL or upload an entire document.

The text box allows you to translate a single word, a phrase, an entire sentence, web page or a document.

  • By translating a single word, you simply type the word in the text box and determine which language you are translating from and to. For example, if you type the word hello and have the text box translate from English to Spanish, the result will be hola.
  • Translating a phrase works just as simple as typing a single word. For example, if you were to type the phrase "I love you", the translation in Spanish would be "te amo."
  • To translate a web page URL, you would enter a URL and click translate. This tool will transform the entire web page into the language of your preference.
  • A document translates by uploading the document and clicking translate. Just as the web page, the document will transform from the original text into the language you have chosen.

As you can see, this one text box offers many options to an individual or an organization. For instance, the use of translating an entire document could become beneficial to either when uploading a resume. If an individual spoke English but was applying to organization that predominantly spoke Spanish, this would allow an easier comprehension of your resume. Using the Google Translate text box could open up a larger realm of prospects.

Google Translate

Has anyone ever needed help with translation of text, a web page or a document in a different language? Google has just the right tool for you!

They have created state-of-the art technology that translates presently in 51 different languages. It offers translation assistance when browsing through different web pages on the internet, translating a phrase, single word or even an entire document. Google Translate is an automatic translator (a.k.a. machine translation) which is backed by Google's research group. This group combines billions of words of text into a statistical machine translator that is able to translate between languages. For example, if you were to type a phrase such as "how are you?" in English into the text box and ask for the Spanish translation, Google Translate would give "Como estas?" as the result. Of course, due to the fact that Google Translate's translations are provided by a machine and not a human, there is always room for improvement. Google accepts any suggestions contributed by an individual who feels there would be a better way to phrase a translation and continue to work at improving this tool.

Google Translate offers several features within itself. First, translation through the text box. As previously stated, this text box allows an individual to type a single text, phrase or upload an entire document for translation. Second, attaching a gadget (or quick link) to your own web page. This gadget is made up of 51 languages that will translate your site to the reader's preference. The reader would choose their preferred language easily from a drop down menu. The third feature, Translate Search, includes the option of browsing the web through one language and having the ability to read in the language of your choice. For example, if an individual were planning to visit Germany and needed to make hotel reservations, they could surf German websites and view in English. This FREE tool gives the individual the ability to research solely without having to rely on the mainstream destination spots booked by travel agencies or travel sites.

This technology could not only be used for general translation purposes but could also be utilized to promote business aspects as well. Adding a tool to a web page that allows translations of 51 languages could greatly expand business prospects. Along with this expansion, it removes barriers that would normally limit an individual to certain sites not pertaining to their native language. Google Translate conveniently offers several options with its technology that allows a reader to feel confident exploring the web in different languages.
